What is Bikram Yoga
There is much debate over what is the difference between hot yoga and Bikram yoga. To some, they are the same exact type of yoga but to others, they are not one in the same. The main difference is that when you are doing Bikram yoga, you are in a much hotter environment than if you were to do hot yoga. The Bikram yoga was invented by Bikram Choudhury who comes from India.
Bikram yoga is made to be done in a room that is heated to 105 degrees. It will be performed with more than 20 different yoga poses and will work on your breathing exercises as well as the yoga poses. The class is made to be done in 90 minute increments. The Bikram yoga is performed in what most people call the torture chamber because it is so hot and the humidity is so high.
Hot yoga is made to be done in any room that can be hot. The instructor choses what temperature to put the room in and will choose the different yoga poses. The room can be anything between 80 degrees and 100 degrees.
The hot yoga class is going to have music playing the background and will finish eat pose with a round of clapping. With the Bikram yoga class, the instructor is going to be taught everything he or she knows from Bikram himself. The studio is also going to have to be affiliated in order to be considered for the Bikram course.
While in the Bikram yoga class, all of the participants are going to have to remain quiet during the course and they will not be permitted to talk until after the class is over or you have been directed to do so from the instructor. With hot yoga, the class is able to laugh and joke during the class and it can be more fun this way than your Bikram class can be.
If you want to really get into the moves and enjoy hot yoga, you might want to give it a try with the lights down low or maybe even by candlelight. There is no set guideline on how you have to work out when doing hot yoga instead of when participating in Bikram yoga, you are required to carry on while in a specific setting that has to be met by Bikram Choudhury himself in order to be classified as a Bikram yoga course.
